About this page

This portfolio was lovingly handcrafted by Shannon Lynn Pederson to act as a digital representation of the author’s past works, teaching experience, personal philosophy, and much more.

First conceptualized as the final results of an assignment for the class SLS 485 [Professionalism in SLS] at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, this website was hand coded using a minimalistic yet effective combination of HTML and CSS. Beyond my own personal interests in website development, I chose this path as a way to represent my larger values, both as a teacher and a creator:

In whatever you are passionate about, there is value in breaking outside of the many templates, molds, and shortcuts the rest of the world wants you to use — and if one wants to truly find meaning in their language studies, they must first find the fire inside themselves that drives them to create quality work beyond any assignment or rubric they may be presented with.

As a teacher, I feel that it is my mission to help students find that spark, and help it grow into a lifelong passion towards learning, curiosity, and quality in their language studies and beyond.
